About Virginia Hunting

Virginia Hunting is a free resource for hunters in the Commonwealth of Virginia. We compile county-by-county guides, season dates, public land information, and practical tips so you can spend less time researching and more time in the field.

Why This Site Exists

Virginia has some of the best hunting on the East Coast — over 1.6 million acres of national forest, dozens of Wildlife Management Areas, and generous seasons for deer, turkey, bear, and more. But finding specific, local information can be frustrating. The state's resources are spread across multiple websites, PDFs, and regulation booklets.

We built Virginia Hunting to bring all of that information together in one place. Every county page, every public land listing, and every season date is designed to answer the question: "Where can I hunt, and what do I need to know?"

Our Sources

All hunting regulations, season dates, and public land information is compiled from official sources including the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (VDGIF) and the U.S. Forest Service. We update this information seasonally to reflect current regulations.

Important: Always verify current regulations through the official VDGIF regulations before heading afield. Regulations can change, and this site is a guide — not a legal document.
