Surry County is a rural Tidewater county south of the James River with flat terrain of pine forests, swamps, and farmland. The county provides excellent deer and turkey hunting with notably low hunting pressure. Hog Island Wildlife Management Area and Chippokes Plantation State Park offer public hunting access.
