Barbours Creek Wilderness

Other · Craig · Mountain Virginia

Barbours Creek Wilderness is a federally designated wilderness area within the Jefferson National Forest in Craig County. The area offers a true backcountry hunting experience with no motorized access or improved trails in much of the interior. Deer and turkey hunting are productive in the mature hardwood forests, and bear use the area heavily in fall when acorn mast is available. Hunters must be self-sufficient and comfortable navigating without marked trails.
