Hog Island Wildlife Management Area

Hog Island WMA is a Coastal Plain area along the James River in Surry County, featuring a mix of tidal marsh, bottomland hardwoods, and upland pine-hardwood forests. The area provides excellent waterfowl hunting in the marshes and impoundments along the river. Deer hunting is productive in the upland timber, and the dove fields are popular in early fall. The diverse habitat types make this one of the more versatile hunting areas in eastern Virginia.
