The Clinch Ranger District covers the westernmost portion of the Jefferson National Forest in Virginia's far southwest. The area features rugged mountain terrain with excellent bear, deer, and turkey hunting. High Knob recreation area provides a good staging point for hunts into the surrounding mountains. The remote location and demanding terrain keep hunting pressure low, especially in the backcountry areas away from forest roads.
