The Eastern Divide Ranger District encompasses the eastern-most sections of the Jefferson National Forest along the Blue Ridge and Great Valley. The area provides accessible mountain hunting near the Roanoke metro area with solid deer, turkey, and bear populations. North Creek and Barbours Creek drainages offer secluded hunting valleys away from the more popular recreation areas. The Appalachian Trail corridor draws hikers but also provides ridgetop hunting access.
