Powhatan Wildlife Management Area
WMA · Powhatan · Piedmont Virginia
Powhatan WMA sits in the central Piedmont west of Richmond, making it one of the more accessible WMAs for hunters in the metro area. The area features diverse habitat including mature hardwoods, pine plantations, and creek bottom forests along the James River tributaries. Deer and turkey are the primary quarry, with good dove hunting in managed fields in early fall. A shooting range on site provides a convenient practice facility.
