Shenandoah Mountain
Other · Augusta, Highland, Rockingham · Valley Virginia
Shenandoah Mountain is a major ridgeline within the George Washington National Forest that provides some of the best bear and deer hunting in the state. The long mountain crest offers mile after mile of public hunting land with road access from both the Shenandoah Valley and Highland County sides. Fall mast crops of acorns and hickory nuts draw bears and deer to the ridge, creating productive hunting conditions. The north-south orientation of the ridge means hunters can find varied conditions by changing elevation.
